We took the Buick to Statfold Barn Railway near Tamworth.

The world’s biggest train set. A private narrow gauge railway, open 4 times a year by invitation.

The Buick was invited, and we went along too.

We were told by another Buick owner, that the cover over the spark plugs also keeps dirt out of the oil, as the oil feed to the rockers drains back past the plugs.

We had bought a cover a few years ago, but never fitted it.

 

 

Phil cleaned and painted it, we made new studs to secure the cover, and Martin made a gasket thick enough for the cover to clear the plugs.

 

 

The controls for the advance & retard and tickover, on the centre of the steering wheel had slipped, and were not working. The broken bracket had started spinning.

 

 

Martin, Rodney & Phil have now re-engineered the bracket and re-set the gears at the bottom of the steering column and all seems well.

 

 

So we had cream cakes to celebrate.
